What we do
Our work covers a wide range of activities. Some of these are listed below:
We support local voluntary groups whose work involves
them with disabled people.
q We can
give information and advice to groups wishing to develop their services or who are
seeking funding for their work.
q We may be
able to provide some administrative support if required.
q We can
provide talks at club meetings.
We develop new
services that disabled people are asking for.
Amongst the local services we have helped to establish over
the years (and which are still going strong) are:
q Redbridge Crossroads Care Attendant Scheme
q Shopmobility
q Dial-a-Ride
q Redbridge Living Options
q Redbridge Forum for People with Learning
Disabilities
q Redbridge Dippers
q Three
local Stroke Clubs.
More recently, we established a support scheme for people
who wished to manage their own care packages.
Our funding for this initiative came to an end in June 2002. Redbridge Council, recognising the value of the project, has committed funding
to allow the service to continue.
We represent the views of disabled people to the Health
and Local Authorities, the Government and other service providers.
We aim to work closely and constructively with all organisations that provide services or facilities, to ensure
that their services are provided in a manner that makes them accessible and
appropriate for local disabled people.
We monitor and advise on access issues.
q
ReDA works closely
with Access Officers at the London Borough of Redbridge.
We provide an Information and Advice Service.
We can answer enquiries on a wide range of topics
including adaptations, benefits, education, employment, equipment, holidays,
leisure activities, respite and training.
When we don’t know the answer we know somebody who does.
Where necessary we can assist people to obtain the
benefits or services they are entitled to.
We produce regular newsletters
that provide information to our members, local voluntary groups and other
interested people.
